Since the television was first invented, it has always been evolving. First, you have simple, black and white and only a few channels. But then in a few years you had more channels, better sound etc. Then the most revolutionary of them all, color t.v. Since then, we have never been satisfied, always trying to make a new remote or viewing system. In the past few years, we have been seeing the latest generation of media to arrive, high definition.
High definition by itself sounds pretty impressive. The fact that you can say "My family movies are in HD" is a huge ego booster by itself, not counting the fact that your children will look back at their lives in crisp, clear video. Part of the value of gadgets is their ego boosting power. Do you think that the guy who can play video games through his car got that feature for its functionality?
We humans are constantly evolving our technology because the consumer always gets sick of something. Part of why we are going to HD is that the consumer naturally felt that they needed something new. It was time, and as the economist predicted it, they demanded a new product. That mentality is largely new, with the age of computers. Computers and their ever expanding memory has opened up new possibilities in bussiness, just for the reason that people think that they need something new. Computers are just an example. As the consumers see that more and more technologies are evolving, they expect that for everything.
